We do all work on a staging copy first. You review and approve everything before we touch the live site. Visual changes from optimization are almost always invisible, the only noticeable difference is that things load faster.
Caching plugins help, but they’re one piece of a much larger puzzle. If your images aren’t optimized, your JavaScript is render-blocking, your server response time is poor, or your hosting environment is undersized, a caching plugin won’t fix those things. We look at the complete picture.
